Annual Pink Ribbon Run-Walk
Cancer Society of Maldives has been doing the Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Ribbon Run-walk in Male’ for the past 5 years. We have partnered with BML, in the last two years and carried out a very successful program in Hulhumale’ and 27 islands/cities throughout the country with an estimated 3000 participants.
Furthermore, this event has immensely increased public awareness on the issue of Breast Cancer. Specifically, on key messages, the need to be aware of risk factors and the importance of early detection. Additionally, the run itself was a promotion of healthy living through healthy lifestyle. This is the most essential factor in reducing mortality and morbidity from cancers and all non-communicable diseases.
We are very thankful to the management of BML, all Branch Managers, CSM focal points in the islands, health centers, councils, schools, NGOs and everyone actively involved in the organizing and execution of Pink Ribbon Run/walk 2018. We would also like to thank Villa College, Housing Development Corporation Ltd., Maldives Police Services, HandyWater, Glowfit, SHAPE by Gymnasia and Go Live Maldives.
