World Cancer Day 2026

Our World Cancer Day Public Event at Artificial Beach on the 6th of February 2026 brought together the community for an evening focused on cancer awareness, wellness, and support. Dr. Aminath Jameel joined us as Chief Guest to celebrate the unique journeys of every individual affected by cancer in the Maldives. Patients and families found coping resources and support in a welcoming, community-centered environment.

IGMH, Dhamana Veshi, Tree Top Hospital, Hulhule Hospital, and the National Onco Centre provided vital clinical support and informative stalls and sessions covering nutrition and wellness, alongside essential information about cancer awareness and screenings. The Maldives National University and Villa College contributed to spreading knowledge and fostering awareness, helping the community understand cancer as a deeply personal experience that extends beyond diagnosis.

Dhirithi Faruvaa, Master Dental Care, and SHE Maldives offered specialized services in tobacco cessation, nutrition, emotional coping, and patient support, creating a comprehensive approach to wellness and care.

Run-Walk 2025
The Pink Ribbon Run-Walk 2025 on the 18th of October 2025 was incredible Hulhumalé!

More than 500 participants joined the run in Hulhumale. 35 islands across Maldives came together to raise awareness on breast cancer.

In total, over 3,300 people ran for the cause, carrying messages of strength, sharing stories of hope, and spreading awareness across our nation.

We are deeply thankful to see such care, compassion, and dedication within our community. Together, we are stronger.

The Pink Ribbon Run-Walk 2025 on the 18th of October 2025 was incredible Hulhumalé!

Fundraising Gala

The Cancer Society of Maldives hosted its Annual Fundraising Gala Dinner on October 4th, 2025 in Hotel Jen, under the theme "Let your love light up a life." The elegant evening, held at Hotel Jen Malé by Shangri-La, brought together supporters and community members to raise funds for cancer awareness and support programs.

The gala featured live entertainment, a "Get To Know Cancer Support Group" session, and an exciting raffle draw. Recognition awards were presented to outstanding volunteers Fathimath Ina Shareef, Aminath Efa, Mariyam Zayna Saeed, Ahmed Eagan, and Aishath Zeela for their invaluable contributions throughout the year.

The event also recognized exceptional institutional support from AA Himandhoo Health Centre and GA Gemanafushi Council. The gala's success was made possible through generous sponsorship across multiple tiers: Hotel Jen Malé by Shangri-La as the main sponsor, LIFE Package sponsors including Bank of Maldives, Simdi Group, Gili Lankanfushi, and Sonee Hardware, LIGHT Package sponsors such as SHC Law & Tax and Bison Maldives, and LOVE Package sponsors including Dhiraagu, Kaimoo, and STO.

The event united the community in compassion and commitment to supporting those affected by cancer.

Past Events.

Addu Atoll Awareness and Screening
The Cancer Society of Maldives recently wrapped up an extensive cancer screening initiative in Addu Atoll that ran from November 26-29, 2025. The program brought comprehensive screening services to six islands—Feydhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Hithadhoo, Hulhudhoo, and Meedhoo—offering tests for breast, oral, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancers alongside public awareness activities.

In total, 888 individuals participated in the screenings across three main health facilities. Oral cancer screening saw the highest participation with 324 people screened, followed by breast cancer with 269 participants. Cervical cancer screenings reached 141 people, colorectal cancer 108, and prostate cancer 46 individuals.

The screenings were distributed across three locations to serve different communities. Feydhoo Health Centre accommodated participants from Feydhoo, Maradhoo, and Maradhoo-Feydhoo with 195 total screenings. Addu Equatorial Hospital in Hithadhoo conducted 196 screenings for local residents. Hulhumeedhoo Health Centre handled the largest volume with 497 screenings from participants in Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo.
Maldives Health Expo 2025
At the Maldives Health Expo held between 13th-16th November 2025 in Central Park, Hulhumale', the Cancer Society of Maldives raised awareness about cancer and introduced its Cancer Support Group, which provides guidance and encouragement to individuals and families affected by the disease. The team also organized fun, interactive activities for children to promote healthy lifestyle habits, emphasizing that a healthier future begins with early education and awareness.
HDh. Atoll Awareness and Screening
The Cancer Society of Maldives conducted a comprehensive cancer awareness and screening campaign in Hdh. Atoll from November 5-8, 2025. The initiative focused on five major cancer types: breast, oral, cervical, colorectal, and prostate cancer. Across three health facilities in the atoll (Vaikaradhoo, Makunudhoo, and Kulhudhuffushi), the organization screened a total of 1,053 individuals and reached 273 adults and 1,080 students through 10 awareness sessions across 5 islands. The campaign resulted in significant screening numbers, with Vaikaradhoo Health Centre screening 235 individuals, Makunudhoo Health Centre screening 318 individuals, and Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital screening 403 individuals, providing crucial early detection opportunities for local communities.
24 Hour Run to celebrate Generational Ban on Tobacco
Members of the Cancer Society of Maldives and the Cancer Support Group proudly participated in the 24-hour run to celebrate the implementation of the Generation Ban Act, a groundbreaking law prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to anyone born in or after 2007.Since 2022, CSM has been actively advocating for this generational tobacco ban, and its implementation marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to prevent tobacco use and protect future generations from its harms. This achievement reflects the power of collaboration, persistence, and community commitment to a healthier, tobacco-free Maldives.
Breast & Oral Cancer Screening at Israhvehinge Naadhee
As part of our ongoing awareness and early detection efforts, 60 individuals were screened for breast and oral cancers at Israhvehinge Naadhee in Male'. Early detection saves lives and initiatives like these help bring vital screening and awareness closer to our communities.
Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2025
The Cancer Society of Maldives extends heartfelt gratitude to all the incredible runners who endorsed us at the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2025 in Central Park, Hulhumale'! 

This event on 24th October 2025 was a meaningful opportunity to connect with the community, bringing together people of all ages and abilities in a celebration of unity, wellness, and purpose. It’s a vibrant occasion to share knowledge, promote an active lifestyle, and raise awareness for important causes.

Session
Balance Studio, Male', hosted a special Pilates and Breast Cancer Awareness Session on 23rd October 2025, focusing on the importance of prevention, early detection, and healthy living.

Participants learned about Breast Self-Examination (BSE), recognizing early signs and symptoms, and how maintaining an active, balanced lifestyle can play a key role in reducing breast cancer risk.
