Quit.Ride.Live Healthy

Every year, on 31st May, the World Health Organization (WHO) and global partners celebrate World No Tobacco Day (WNTD). The annual campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness on the harmful and deadly effects of tobacco use and second-hand smoke exposure, and to discourage the use of tobacco in any form. Tobacco is directly linked to 15 types of cancers and causes many more diseases.

The focus of World No Tobacco Day 2019 is on "tobacco and lung health”.

On this occasion, Cancer Society of Maldives in collaboration with Bike Maldives, Dhamanaveshi Tobacco Cessation Clinic, ADK Tobacco cessation clinic and IGMH smoking cessation clinic  launched a program “Quit.Ride.Live Healthy"  to motivate people to stop smoking and live healthy. This is a program inspired by the “Bike for kids’ scheme” program introduced in Turkey.

In order to be eligible for this a  child has to help a relative quit smoking and  must ride the bicycle regularly.
